LMZ ZETA RS System

The unique design of the LMZ ZETA RS offers significant energy savings while enabling gentle dispersion, even down to nanoparticle size. Where other mills encounter problems with hydraulic packing and batch bypassing associated with high velocity flow, the ZETA RS overcomes these issues with a patented design that creates uniform compression throughout the chamber’s length. The result is total utilization of the media charge and mill capacity for greater efficiency in particle size reduction. As with all NETZSCH equipment, the LMZ ZETA RS is custom-engineered for individual applications, and to meet the specific requirements of individual industries.

Benefits of the LMZ ZETA® RS System:

Gentle Dispersions Using Ultra-fine Media

Easy handling of the media charge is essential when dealing with small product batches requiring frequent changes of the grinding media bulk. One problem that ordinary media mills can encounter is damage to the face seal caused when the grinding media ruptures the seal rings. The new Zeta RS stirred media mill system eliminates this risk by employing a rotating grinding chamber that can be adjusted vertically into different positions for easy emptying, filling and operation.

Ease of Operation

The LMZ ZETA RS requires very little operator intervention because the pump creates constant head pressure, eliminating concerns about lost flow and batch bypassing.

Increased Productivity

Typical residence time in the ZETA RS mill is 10-60 seconds, compared to 2-10 minutes on conventional mills. This means that, in the period of time required to run one pass on a horizontal mill, the ZETA RS is capable of 12 or more passes, or turnovers, per batch.

Energy Cost Savings

The ZETA RS is the most energy-efficient high-flow mill available. It makes maximum use of energy input because it eliminates hydraulic packing and completely disperses materials in less time than ordinary mills.

Reduced Costs for Media Charge

The ZETA RS reduces the chamber-length-to-diameter ratio when compared to other mills, so less grinding media is needed to fully charge the chamber. This can produce significant savings depending upon the size and composition of the grinding media used.

Repeatable Results, Batch after Batch

Because the ZETA RS agitator system produces uniform activation of the media, the product is completely dispersed. Residence time and energy input can be set to produce the same result, time after time.

Precise Temperature Control

Heat-sensitive and high-value products may be compromised, or even destroyed, by heat buildup in ordinary mills. The ZETA RS mill all but eliminates this risk, because its high flow rate results in a typical residence time of 10 to 30 seconds, so very little heat is transferred to the product. Whatever heat is generated can be mitigated by using a jacketed holding tank and cooling the mill chamber and shaft.
